Ensemble playing

Ensemble playing brings music to life: voices intertwine, melodies gain depth, and individual instruments come together to create a unified sound. In this section, you’ll find sheet music and resources from the Spielleute publishing house for groups, music circles, courses, lessons, and ensembles.

The selection includes duets, polyphonic pieces, accompaniment parts, chords, and arrangements for traditional music, early music, drone music, bal folk, and historical dance music. Many pieces are suitable for bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, Hümmelchen, Dudey, diatonic accordion, violin, flute, harp, nyckelharpa, guitar, vocals, and mixed ensembles.

Playing together is especially important in traditional and early music. A melody can be carried, accompanied, responded to, or arranged for multiple voices. This not only helps you learn new pieces, but also teaches you how to listen, play together, develop a sense of rhythm, and take musical responsibility within a group.

This section helps you find suitable material for rehearsals, workshops, music school, Bal-Folk ensembles, or informal playing groups. Whether you’re playing as a duo, in a small ensemble, or with a larger group, you’ll find sheet music here that’s designed for making music together.
