
At the stand you will find textbooks, sheet music and ideas about drone music, traditional music and everything that goes with it. If you are interested in bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, nyckelharpa or other drone instruments, it is definitely worth stopping by.
You can browse, ask questions, exchange ideas and see how versatile this music is today.
Particularly good: the Borduntage is a place where many young musicians come together. This is exactly where the things that keep traditional music alive are created – playing, learning and discussing together at eye level. A visit to the stand fits in perfectly.

Do you love drone, sessions and the warm sound of the nyckelharpa – or do you finally want to find out what’s so special about it? Then these four days are just right for you: Workshops at different levels, making music together, concerts and lots of opportunities to meet people from the scene.

You will find Textbooks, sheet music & practice tips all about nyckelharpa and traditional music. You are welcome to contact us if you are looking for guidance on how to get started, practice material or repertoire. Our stand is a good meeting point for exchange – and for all those who want to network in the scene.

From July 3 to 6, 2025 Rudolstadt will once again be transformed into a center for folk, roots and world music. The Rudolstadt Festival is one of the largest and most renowned festivals of its kind in Europe and attracts up to 25,000 visitors a day.
In the midst of this lively hustle and bustle you will find the publishing house of the minstrels in the instrument making center. There we present a selection of sheet music, textbooks and specialist literature on traditional music. Whether you are interested in bagpipes, nyckelharpa or diatonic accordion – here you can talk shop, browse and be inspired.
The Instrument Making Center is a popular meeting place for musicians, instrument makers and anyone who is passionate about handmade sounds. Here you can not only discover instruments, but also talk directly to the makers.

Schloss Dreilützow will soon be a meeting place for bagpipe, ensemble and dance enthusiasts! The Spielleute publishing house will be on site and will offer suitable sheet music and textbooks for the workshops. The course offers excellent workshops with internationally recognized instructors, including bagpipe courses, ensemble playing and dance. Here are some of the highlights:
- Bagpipes semi-closed with Jon SwayneThis course focuses on playing bagpipes with semi-closed fingering. Both traditional and modern English tunes will be studied. Special emphasis is placed on technique and expression.
- Ensemble Course 1 with Mike SimmondsHere musicians are taught to play together in an ensemble. English music is preferred, although all instruments are welcome, and the focus is on listening and collaboration.
- Ensemble course 2 with Maarten Decombel
This course is dedicated to the development of arrangements of folk and traditional music. The focus is on rhythm, harmonies and creating a unique ensemble sound.
- Säckpipa with Matthias Branschke and Olle Gällmo
A special bagpipe course focusing on Swedish Säckpipa. Participants learn from both German and Swedish sources and deepen their knowledge of the style of Swedish dance music.
- Dance course – One step further with Vivien Zeller
This course is about learning and varying dances such as the schottisch, mazurka and waltz in a creative way. Vivien Zeller accompanies the course on the violin and shows how dance and music merge together.
- Rhythm in dance music with Laurenz Schiffermüller
This workshop is aimed at musicianswho want to improve the rhythm in dance music. It’s all about the groove and the feeling that the dancers on the dance floor.
- String ensemble – violin and nyckelharpa with Johannes Rüttermann
A course for violin and nyckelharpa players in which both Swedish and German melodies are taught. The focus is on working on arrangements and playing together.

Do you already know Jule Bauer (@julebauer.nyckelharpa)? She is one of the most talented musicians and authors on the scene and a true master of the nyckelharpa, one of the most fascinating instruments in traditional music. Jule has a long history with the Spielleute publishing house – she bought her first folk and early music CDs here back in the early 90s. Back then, these were her first steps into the world of traditional music, which she is still passionate about today.
